The Lucy-The-Talking-Bird staff derived an enormous amount of pleasure while creating Lucy-The-Talking-Bird, Volume I. Sifting through pictures and videos, old and new, the smiles never seemed to leave our faces during the entire duration of the process.
Watching the reactions of our friends and family as they read our eBook has been extremely satisfying. Send us pictures of your children and pets together, and now your child is part of the story!
Your very own personalized eBook will make the perfect gift for friends and family. Or, because you will own full rights upon our completion of the eBook, you may even want to go into business for yourself, and market your new eBook on the internet!
The Process
Send Pictures! Pictures should be in a jpg format, and should not exceed 350 pixels in width, by 255 pixels in height. (You may send us larger images, but they will be reduced to the size mentioned above to fit properly within the eBook). Each page of the eBook (with the exception of the cover and instructional pages) will contain one picture of your birds, and/or animals, and/or people. Just create a zip file containing each of the pictures that you wish to be included in your eBook. Attach the zip file to an email and send to admin@lucy-the-talking-bird.com. Please limit the size of your zip file to 30MB max.
Introduce us to your companions! Along with your pictures, your email should include any information about your pets that may help us to produce an appropriate rhyme. As with the Lucy The Talking Bird series, we base our rhymes on true experiences, but the eBook is to be considered fictional, and we do embellish to provide entertainment. And because we can only base our rhyme on the information that you provide, the more you tell us about your animals, the closer to real-life the rhyme will be! If you purchased the Lucy The Talking Bird eBook, Volume I, you will have noticed that the pages following the rhyme provide true information about each pet (i.e. Lucy's hatch date, Geddy's original name, etc). Please provide pertinent information about each pet to be included in the pages following the rhyme. This will make your eBook even more personal and interesting to your readers.
Be Patient! Allow us time to review your pictures and pet descriptions, and to get our creative juices flowing! Upon completion of several sample pages, we will send you an email so that you may review the pages and give us the go-ahead to complete your eBook.
Pay and Download When your eBook is complete, you will receive an email from us, providing a link for payment and download. Once you have purchased your personal eBook, you may email it, or burn to CD to give as gifts to friends and family!
Price (Now that's what you were waiting for, wasn't it?!) Our current price for creating a personalized eBook is $75USD. As the holiday season nears, the price will be increased due to higher demand.

Q. Why does my eBook cost $75, when the Lucy The Talking Bird eBook only costs $12.99?
A. An enormous amount of effort and long hours were put into publishing the first Lucy The Talking Bird eBook. Just searching for appropriate photos to tell the story, taking additional photos, sizing, enhancing, and touching-up the photos was a painstaking effort. Advanced knowledge of programming within the Flash environment was required. The $12.99 cost of the eBook is a drop in the bucket of what it cost to produce. But because, through our website, we are able to reach out to African Grey lovers around the world, we wanted the price of our eBook to be affordable by all.
Now let's consider your $75 investment in your own personal eBook. We're assuming you'll be giving your eBook to friends and family as gifts for birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries, and Christmas. As an attachment to an email, or copied to CD, giving your eBook as a gift to just 5 of your friends equates to your spending $15 on each of them. Gift your eBook to 15 people and it's cost just went down to $5 each!
Q. What if I don't like my eBook after I have made the purchase? Will you refund my $75?
A. No. As mentioned above, we put an enormous effort into producing these eBooks (much greater than the $75 price tag). Once you've purchased and downloaded your eBook, the file is on your hard drive, available for you to copy and gift to as many friends and family as you please. You cannot return it, as is the case with a traditional hardbound book. As mentioned above, we will, at the beginning of the process, provide sample pages for you to review, before making a final commitment. Once you give us the go-ahead to produce the eBook, we will expect you to pay for it upon completion.
